Background

Carol found yoga by way of a Classical Indian dance called Bharatanatyam. Her travels to study with dance Guru Sharad Pandya have taught her about technique, posture and beautiful shape-making, but more importantly she learned about surrender and making the space for grace and love even when surrounded by adversity.

Back in NYC, Carol carries those ideas into her yoga practice. She has completed over 800 hrs of formal Yoga and Meditation training and continues to study consistently, making being a good student a top priority as a teacher.

How we breathe and how we respond to what comes up on the mat (or meditation cushion) can teach us a lot about how we react or respond to what comes up in the real world. Carol’s alignment-based, intelligent vinyasa classes aim to teach her students how to cultivate the tools necessary to breathe, cope, succeed and love no matter what comes up in life. She hopes to help her students develop strong, grounded bodies and open hearts.

As a yoga instructor, Carol brings her love of the foundations of yoga into the asanas. Not only the physical aspects of the practice, but also introducing the other side of Yoga - the awareness of the mind body connection and above all the spiritual connection of Yoga to our lives. Carol is an excellent and inspiring teacher who integrates a great deal of variety from class to class. She provides careful instruction to assist students of all levels and gives them her individual attention, support and her love.

Yoga with Carol was the best experience. I had a negative view of yoga before her class because I thought it was jumpy and full of moans and groans and that I was too flexible to feel anything. Carol set me straight about yoga. She had such a calm patience about her and she taught me to listen to my body and be in touch with it. She taught me to push myself and breathe into the poses that hurt and she helped me to clear my mind so that voice that kept saying "I can't" was quieted. She explained the moves so I knew where the stretch and strength should be beneficial. She is so understanding and knowledgeable too. I completely recommend learning alongside this amazing and strong woman. You will be so happy you did!

I look forward to Carol's class because the strength that I build up during her class helps me overcome daily stresses. After dealing with neck and back issues, Carol's care, attention, and example have helped me adapt my practice to one that I feel comfortable with. Carol is patient, positive, and creative in class. I'm so grateful that our paths crossed and am looking forward to the next class! Thank you, Carol.
